I know zenkai is for saiyans but do humans every get stronger after near death?

Krillin vs Nappa, after eating a senzu did he gain a lil more power?
Also krillin vs recoome and frieza, vegeta said krillin and gohan grow stronger after each battle

So I was wondering do humans get small gains after near death?

No. No Zenkais, but Piccolo got a slight boost after the battle with Raditz, with weights he went from 316 to 329.

That's because Piccolo Junior was under an intense battle against a power far greater than his (Raditz), and would technically count as Ki Training, IMO.

Yea I noticed piccolo gets stronger depending on his foe, I wonder if he got stronger after frieza

Since the humans don't receive no kinda boost after battle that's probably the biggest reason they can't catch up to the saiyans and piccolos power

Are you guys all joking?

Every human gets zenkai's. Everytime you break down your muscles, the rebuild but they rebuild themselves stronger. Thus, zenkai. Thus how when I started weight lifting I could only 1 rep max on flat bench 130 pounds, now I'm doing sets with 200 pounds. Everytime I tore my muscles until they were near death, they rebuilt being able to lift more weight.

Zenkai:

Power boost after recovering from near death.

Human Muscles:

When Completley broken down, they enter recovery. When the recovery cycle is over, the muscles can then work harder and better.

Than we get into what is power.

Raw strength is a huge portion. We also have ki, but strength contributes an equal amount in my opinion. Thus when a human goes through an intense fight, straining their muslces, gettin each muscle broken down, when they recover, they are naturally stronger.

Actually, the definition of a zenkai requires the user to be a Saiyan!

Uhhh , but thats not a Zenkai :)

Only Saiyans can get Zenkai, what doesn't kill them makes them only stronger and stronger.

Only because everybody who has interpreted it has tied it to only saiyans, without thinking about humans biological structure as well.

Saiyans are not in the definition of "Zenkai", they are what the definition is tied too.

We can safely use zenkai as the meaning that you receive power upon recovering from near death. Humans do that. Just not as well.

So it's not a "zenkai," then. That's similar, but not the same thing. You don't see humans jumping 33x after one fight.

I'd be surprised if Toriyama had that science in mind.

I agree with the notion that getting into a tough fight is like ki training (hey Big Green!), so non-Saiyans could get stronger after fights, but it's technically not a zenkai because the definition of a zenkai requires the user to be Saiyan (hey Pyro!).

muscles recovering after being stressed isn't zenkai, it is training. zenkai is different.

gohan's neck was broke by recoome. he then got stronger. krillin's back was broke (by nappa?) he didn't get stronger.

zenkai's don't even affect muscles, just ki capacity. it is an entirely different process that only saiyans are stated to have.
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.
